BIOTECH Researchers win at the 15th Annual Convention of NPSP

 

img_1624 Two BIOTECH researchers, Irene A. Papa and Teofila O. Zulaybar won the Best Poster Award in the 15th Annual Convention of the Natural Products Society of the Philippines (NPSP) which was held at the Visayas StateUniversity in Visca, BaybayCity, Leyte on Dec. 2-3, 2010.

 

Their entry, “Effect of the age of Actinomycete on its bioactivity against nine medically important pathogens,” won against 16 other competitors from other universities including UP Manila, UST, DLSU and University of NorthernPhilippines. Winners were awarded with cash and a certificate of recognition.

 

The convention with the theme “Challenges of Product Development in Natural Products” featured other activities such as exhibit displays and poster and paper presentations. NPSP was founded in 1996 with the aim of bringing into the forefront researchers who are actively involved in the study of chemistry, biology and the sustainable use of products derived from natural resources.
