UPLB-BIOTECH’S CASL granted continued PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 accreditation
The Central Analytical Services Laboratory (CASL) of the National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (BIOTECH), UPLB has been granted continued accreditation for another five-year cycle (2025 to 2030) by the Department of Trade and Industry – Philippine Accreditation Bureau (DTI-PAB) last 21 January 2025 in the field of chemical testing of food and waters, based on PNS ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
ISO/IEC 17025 is the international standard for testing and calibration laboratories. This recognition reflects the laboratory’s continuous commitment and initiative in ensuring a quality system and providing reliable results.
CASL provides technical services that include routine chemical analyses, catering to private companies and entrepreneurs, researchers, government regulatory agencies, farmers, and students. The laboratory accepts a wide range of samples for testing that includes the following: food and feeds, plants, fertilizers, and soils, water and wastewater, and biotechnology research products.
Apart from performing routine chemical analyses, the laboratory is also tasked to improve standard analytical methods for non-routine and special types of analyses to meet the evolving needs of various stakeholders. CASL offers a comprehensive range of chemical testing services, including Proximate Analysis, Water Analysis, Mineral Analysis, Sugar Analysis, Fertilizer Analysis, Soil Analysis, Fat and Oil Analysis, Alcohol Analysis, Compositional/Lignocellulosic Profiling, and Phytochemical Screening Analysis, among others.
Aiming to uphold the highest standards in laboratory testing, CASL remains dedicated to serving various institutions both within and outside UPLB.
